Angie Narayan

It’s music that warms the heart and reminds you of the best times you’ve ever had, and there’s no one in the country that does it quite like Angie Narayan; Australia’s Soul elite. Angie not only moves you to the core with her exceptional vocal talent, but her performance speaks a wealth of experience.

The command of Aretha Franklin, the sweet of Al Green, the fearlessness of Michael Jackson, and warmth of Stevie Wonder are often how many describe the experience, and it’s the way Angie evokes emotion and connects with her audience!

Angie Narayan undoubtedly is the strongest soul voice that Australia has heard! It is not hard to understand why Angie continues to captivate a vast audience! With vocals that are beyond comparable she has amazed audiences internationally, displaying a sound wiser than her years!

Her family’s Fijian/Indian background, with roots in gospel music, has been a key influence and driving factor in her career. Naturally gifted from a young age, she began singing in various choirs, which saw her becoming the key soloist in aleading youth organization, Youth Alive. With a perfected performance ability and experience as a Music Director, she toured with them in Japan during 2003.

In 2004 Angie was ready to expand her career so she took the plunge into the hit reality TV show Australian Idol. She was dubbed Australia’s ‘Soul Mama’ by the most critical of judges Ian Dickinson and that title has not left her since. Angie shook the show with her powerful performances leaving viewers and industry greats speechless.

Amongst all this Angie supported industry legends Renee Geyer, John Paul Young and Human Nature, to name a few, and hit the live music circuit throughout various states with her band Soul Engine. A busy lady indeed, she also spread her vocals throughout various Berlei Bras television advertisements.

Angie has always been thankful for the blessings she has received throughout her life and naturally shares her vibrant spirit and positivity with all those that are around her. She has used her position and ability to touch people through music to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation and the 2004 Tsunami Appeal and has recently partnered with Compassion Australia, who work towards releasing children from the poverty that they are faced with today...a concern that she holds close to her heart.

In 2005 she retreated to work on her debut album, Undeniable, with her debut single ‘Chain Of Fools’, both currently released. It has given her the opportunity to showcase her versatility to satisfy her diverse audience and express her growth over the years through her experiences.

With her fresh album launch in mid 2006 it hasn’t stopped there. One of the tracks have been remixed and released as ‘Slide’ on the internationally renowned Ministry of Sound 2007 Annual album which debuted at number 15 on the ARIA Club Charts and sat happily at number 5 for four weeks.

Prepare yourselves, the journey is far from over. To understand Angie Narayan is to understand ground shaking soul.
